Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is necessary. You can stop by Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm Eastern Standard Time.

How do I adopt a pet?

You can apply to adopt a pet online by clicking on ADOPT in the above menu or in person during normal business hours.

Do you take animals from other counties?

No, we can only accept pets from Rhea County residents only.

Who gets my donation?

All donations go the Animal Shelter Alliance of Rhea a not for profit organization that supports the Rhea County Animal Shelter by providing food, care, medical, and more. No donations go to the Rhea County Government. EIN# 47-3122393

How do I find my pet a new home.

What do I if I found a pet?

If you found an animal the first and best thing to do is post the animal on local lost pet Facebook groups and similar channels. The majority of the time you can find its worried owner. Visit our HOW TO page by clicking the link in the menu for guidance on helping the animal find its home.

Can I volunteer if I don't have any experience?

Absolutely! We welcome volunteers of all experience levels.

What is Fostering?

So many times we are overburdened with pets that need homes or kittens and puppies that aren't old enough to be adopted yet that you can help us by Fostering a pet. When you foster a pet you take care of the pet while we try to find it a new home or it comes of age to be adoptable. Fosters are a tremendous help to not only us but the pet you are fostering. Show a pet some love and give them a temporary loving home while we work to find them a new permanent home of their own.
